Sera Amoroso has been writing stories since she was ten years old. Ever since she got her hands on books such as The Lord of the Rings, and Enders Game, she wanted to publish one of her own. Finally, multiple scrapped ideas and discarded drafts later, she did it.
Her debut novel, Torsion, with much love and support from family and friends, was published when she was 16 years old. She considers that one of her most notable achievements.
Now, at 19 years old, she continues to write science fiction and fantasy, goes to college for English and Linguistics, and works as an editor, beta reader, and book reviewer. Writing has been one of her greatest joys, and she hopes to continue to express that passion through her works.
Can you briefly summarize what you have published?
I have two, Torsion, which is a sci-fi thriller, packed full of science, androids, aliens, and secrets. I've also been published in the anthology Aphotic Love. Both have been fun projects and I have a third book coming out in December, the sequel to Torsion.
Is there any personal backstory to your publication(s) that you want to share about?
I grew up loving reading and books, and my cousin is a self-published author, and so she inspired me to figure out how to do it, though she did point me to some resources, like Bowker, and helped me learn how to navigate KDP.
What first got you into writing?
Reading, because I love books so much.
What is your favorite genre to write?
Science fiction and fantasy
What do you enjoy doing other than writing?
Reading, playing MTG, DnD, minecraft, music, photography, making conlangs, and swimming are some of my hobbies.
What upcoming projects do you have?
My current WIP is Clandestine, the sequel to Torsion, which is coming out in December. It's also a scifi thriller that focuses on trust, betrayal , espionage, and themes of morality.
What's your least favorite trope?
Most romance tropes because I don't enjoy reading them, but especially love triangles. And miscommunication, unless it's done in a funny way.
If you could be any plant, what would it be, and why?
Lavender or mint, because they're my favorite scents. Plus they're pretty.
If you could give any author or poet one tip, what would it be?
Write what you want to read. Because you will have to reread it a lot, and it's best that you keep writing as something you enjoy, than a choir.
Anything else you want to share about yourself?
I have a dog, she's super cute and friendly and I post pictures of her all the time!
